About Us
The Sporting Dog & Habitat Foundation is dedicated to preserving the traditions of the American sporting dog while promoting upland habitat conservation and responsible land stewardship. Through championship field trials, charitable initiatives, and community partnerships, we strive to ensure that these treasured traditions endure for generations to come.
Each year, we proudly host the North Carolina Open All-Age Quail Championship in Hoffman, North Carolina, a premier event that brings together elite handlers, breeders, and exceptional canine athletes from across the nation. Conducted in the classic horseback format using blank ammunition only, the championship celebrates the highest standards of bird dog performance, sportsmanship, and conservation.
Beyond competition, our mission extends to protecting working landscapes, supporting wildlife habitat restoration, and fostering an appreciation for the unique relationship between land, wildlife, and the sporting traditions that define our heritage.
Preserving Heritage for Future Generations
Our Heritage
Where land, wildlife, and sport intersect, traditions endure and future generations thrive.
The Sporting Dog & Habitat Foundation was established to preserve the rich traditions of the American sporting dog and promote the conservation of upland habitats. Rooted in generations of sportsmanship and stewardship, we celebrate the unique relationship between bird dogs, wildlife, and the landscapes that sustain them.
Our annual North Carolina Open All-Age Quail Championship showcases the highest standards of bird dog performance while honoring a heritage built on responsibility, respect for the land, and a commitment to future generations. Through conservation efforts, community partnerships, and educational outreach, we continue to protect these traditions where land, wildlife, and sport intersect.
We believe that preserving heritage is more than remembering the past—it is investing in the future. Together with our supporters, we are ensuring that these cherished traditions continue to thrive for years to come.
